How can Hypnotherapy help Fertility?

Will hypnotherapy help fertility?

You may be surprised to learn that fertility can be helped by hypnotherapy. Fertility is thought to be affected by emotional, mental and physical factors, and hypnosis can be used to address these. Every thought that you have has a physiological effect on your body.

You know this already. An example would be if you were driving along and suddenly saw blue lights behind you and heard a police siren behind you. You may think they are following you and suddenly you feel hot or cold, hands feel clammy and you can feel your heart racing. As the police car passes you, it becomes apparent that the problems that you are experiencing are all generated from your thoughts rather than reality. Adrenaline has been released and fear/stress is then present in your body and you experience the feelings of fight, flight, and freeze.

In our daily lives, we experience a constant amount of exposure to stress and so we spend less time in a state of relaxation. An ideal way for our bodies to function as they are designed to do would be for us to spend more than 95 % of our time in a state of relaxation and just 2-5 % with an adrenaline response which is there to enable us to act appropriately to danger and so save our lives.

The Fertile Body Therapy is a mind-body approach to supporting you with your fertility. It uses hypnosis working with the conscious and unconscious mind to enhance fertility. This is predominately achieved through visualization, guided imagery, and mental rehearsal and you will be using your mind to assist your fertility.

This approach can be used alongside other methods of enhancing fertility and more traditional treatments.

What are the natural ways that you can help to support your egg quality?

If you are trying to conceive there are many natural things you can do to help support egg quality and so support your chances of getting pregnant. It is important to have good quality eggs in order to become pregnant whether naturally or using IVF. Using IVF, when women have good egg quality and a good reserve (which means more eggs to choose from) the success rate is likely to be higher.

So if you find out you have poor ovarian reserve or poor egg quality, what can you do to support egg quality and your chances of getting pregnant?

Natural support for Egg Quality

Conventional medicine to date does not have any answers of how to support egg quality.  There is however time during the period that eggs are maturing towards ovulation that the quality can be affected both negatively and positively.  During the 90 day period that an egg takes to reach full maturation, the eggs are changing and preparing for ovulation. At this time they are affected by both healthy or unhealthy influences. Contributing factors to egg health are:

  • A healthy diet
  • Plenty of sleep
  • A stress free lifestyle
  • Moderate exercise. Good blood flow to uterus
  • Hormonal Balance

To reduce chemical, toxins, pesticides and electro magnetic radiation
No alcohol, cigarettes, coffee or recreational drugs
Be checked for STI’s and UTI’s
Avoid hormone disrupters- (hormones found in some plastics and metal cans for example)

There are many factors that can have an impact on the health of the ovaries and eggs including environmental factors, hormones in the diet, and stress just to name a few.

Oxygen rich blood flow to the ovaries is essential for good egg health. Blood flow can decrease from lack of exercise, dehydration, and thick blood. To increase blood flow to the ovaries follow these suggestions:

  • Drink sufficient water to help circulation.
  • Exercise,
find something to do that you enjoy that includes movement, such as tennis, walking, running, dancing, or fertility yoga. Exercise boosts circulation of blood in your body, bringing fresh blood to all your cells and helping to oxygenate the blood.
  • Gentle Abdominal massage. One of the best therapies for improving blood flow is massage. By massaging your abdomen you will be helping the blood flow to your reproductive organs, bringing fresh, oxygenated blood to your ovaries.

If you are currently trying to conceive, perform the massage techniques from the day after your period has ended up until ovulation. Here are some ways to help balance your hormones and nourish the endocrine system.

  • Reflexology And Shiatsu Self-Help For Headaches

Reflexology is well known for its relaxing effects, and the beneficial affect that it has on nervous tension, insomnia and its promotion of a feeling of wellbeing. However there is more to it than that.

If you have a headache you may find that working on your feet may be able to give you some relief.

Step 1 Drink some water, headaches are often caused by dehydration.
Step 2. If you can sit in a comfortable position and reach your feet you may like to try the following :-
Support your foot with one hand and starting with your little toe, stretch the toe gently and holding your toe near the base joint (where toe and hand connect) rotate the toe in a big slow gentle circle rotate the toe gently 3 times in each direction. (Work with left hand for right toes and vice versa). Repeat with all the toes on that foot and then stretch each toe gently to relieve any tension in your neck. This is a relaxing technique and should feel really nice!
Using a firm but comfortable pressure , use your thumb and finger to stroke firmly from the top of the toe down to the joint, and continue down the foot a little way . (As though you were squeezing a tube of toothpaste)
Using your left thumb on the top of your right foot, run the thumb up in the gap between your big toe and second toe , pressing in gently and you will find a tender point a short way above the joint. This is an acupoint on the Liver meridian which is called Liver 3, and promotes a smooth flow of energy around your body helping to relieve headaches.
Stroke down feet to finish.
    Repeat on other foot.

Reflexology should never be used as a substitute for medical advice so if you are concerned, consult your medical practitioner.

    Fertility Reflexology

If you are planning to start a family there are a few things to which you may like to give some thought.

    How well do you sleep?

Disturbed sleep can have a detrimental effect on your endocrine system which can affect menstrual cycles and sperm production.

    How healthy is your diet?

The food you eat is vital to your health and well being and so to your fertility.

Is your exercise good for you?

Are you concentrating on muscle building or more gentle activities and do you know that over-exercising may be unhelpful?

Is your water intake adequate?

Your body requires sufficient water intake to ensure an adequate blood flow to your endometrium (lining of your uterus), which helps implantation.

Do you drink alcohol or use drugs?

I’m sure you know that research shows that these are harmful to your developing baby.

    Do you smoke?

Acupuncture and hypnotherapy are both treatments that can help you to give up to improve your health.

The good news is that there are lots of things that you can do for yourself to work towards being in an optimal fertile state and if you are having a course of complementary therapy to support your fertility your therapist will be able to discuss these with you.
Reflexology should never be used as a substitute for medical advice so if you are concerned, consult your medical practitioner.
